Mainframe SOA Best Practice: Aligning Business with IT through Top-Down Service Design

Speaker: Rob Morris, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Strategy, GT Software

Companies may approach mainframe SOA initiatives from two different design perspectives: bottom-up and contract-first. Businesses may see the former as an opportunity to jumpstart SOA, quickly packaging bite-sized chunks of mainframe code as Web Services, and pushing them out to the rest of the organization. In contrast, Contract-first Web Service design is guided by business processes. This presentation will discuss both methodologies, and the relative merits of each as a means for creating true service optimization.
