SQL Access

SQL has become the industry-standard language for data manipulation and today virtually all programmers know SQL. Using standard SQL commands, Ivory® Data Access supports SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE to non-relational as well as relational data sources, including DB2, SQL/DS, VSAM, DL/1, IMS/DB, ADABAS, CA-Datacom/DB, CA-IDMS/DB, EDN, KDBS, CICS-TS, MVS PDS/PS, Power Queues, SAM, SPITAB, 3270 Screens.

Ivory Data Access supports more than 90 SQL functions, including:

• Summarization, calculation of maximum and minimum value
• Averaging
• Multiple string functions
• Date functions

Ivory Data Access greatly simplifies cross-system data selection. Using the Ivory Data Access ODBC- or JDBC/J2EE-interface, a workstation or Web-application can read and update mainframe data files. Even data structures that have been compressed or encoded for security purposes can be processed with SQL-commands by using Ivory Data Access. "Commit" and "Rollback" functions are supported to ensure secure transaction processing.
