Ivory® Data Access greatly simplifies the bi-directional data-exchange in heterogeneous system environments, providing different methods to exchange mainframe data directly with an Oracle database:
- Direct access to Oracle databases using SQL-commands from online mainframe applications (i.e. CICS, IMS/DC etc.) applications, as well as from batch programs (Open System Transparency) The Open System Transparency component can be used to join mainframe and ORACLE data.
- SQL access to all supported mainframe data sources, with direct insert of the result set into the Oracle database.
Example: Use Ivory Data Access to enable a mainframe program to process data from a SQL server or Oracle database, or even process a view that uses standard SQL commands (JOINS) to combine mainframe data from disparate sources (i.e. DB2, VSAM, IMS/DB, ADABAS, etc.).
Features:
- Direct access to Oracle databases from mainframe batch or online applications
- SQL syntax used for resource access
- Easy implementation via simple API
- Bi-directional and transaction processing
- Support of synchronous and asynchronous processing
- Mainframe application will always be informed about result (Return code or message)
- Scalable to efficiently process large data volumes
