Industry analysts estimate that over 65% of existing mainframe applications are screen-based, with the presentation and business logic combined together in green screens. This may be BMS-based CICS screens or MFS-based IMS applications. It is important for a mainframe integration product to offer high performance access to these screen applications through screen API’s beyond 3270. A preferred method for CICS BMS-based applications is the Link3270 Bridge, while IMS applications are accessed via OTMA.
Ivory provides full support for high performance integration of MFS-based applications and CICS BMS based COBOL programs via SOAP, ODBC, and JDBC. Ivory can also provide the ability to notify Web services if an underlying/associated BMS map has been altered; thereby, helping to prevent ‘broken’ services in production. This is a feature other vendors can’t offer and further proving that Ivory has the best integration to existing mainframe applications in the industry.
Ivory's new 3270 Gateway feature allows 3270 applications such as: native mode 3270 CICS applications, fourth GL-type languages that do not support CICS or BMS, 3270-based IMS/DC applications, and CICS BMS applications that use mixed mode processing to utilize the Linkable Bridge just like as BMS applications. GT Software has found that the IBM Linkable Bridge process provides very high performance access to screen based applications.
With Ivory’s expanded coverage for 3270 applications, clients have several new features for accessing screen based applications. Support for NON-BMS CICS applications such as Fourth Generation Languages and Software Vendor applications are now possible using Ivory’s high performance access to CICS based applications. Ivory’s support for applications not accessible via CICS has been enhanced to provide additional meta data mapping functions via the integrated screen wizard recorder and project builder.
