The Ivory® Data Access SQL engine provides direct access to 3270 screens from a variety of open system environments or mainframe platforms using standard SQL syntax. Ivory Data Access supports the joining of data from 3270 screens with information from other mainframe data sources (i.e. IMS, DL/1, DB2, VSAM, ADABAS, CA-Datacom, CA-IDMS), presenting the end user with relevant data in familiar relational data views. Ivory Data Access provides fast, efficient data access that is flexible and transparent.

With Ivory Data Access, you can reference the data directly from your 3270 screens and applications instead of having to work from the base data. Online applications access the base data, manipulate it, process it and display the results on your 3270 screens. That is the data you want to use in your client/server or Web-applications, and Ivory Data Access allows you to access this data through simple SQL commands.

The Ivory Data Access SQL engine acts like a virtual terminal for the target online system, simulating all of the functions that a user would normally perform in order to access the screen data. The required data is located, extracted and provided to the application that has initiated the SQL request. The data from the 3270 screens can be joined with any other data source (i.e. IMS, DL/1, DB2, ADABAS, VSAM, etc), providing relational views that have not been possible before.

  • 3270 screens become relational data sources
  • Dynamic access to 3270 screen maps and map sequences
  • Support for static and dynamic maps
  • Screen data processing with SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, COMMIT and ROLLBACK commands
  • Ivory Data Access acts as a virtual user, performing screen navigation using scripts
  • Features GUI-based creation of navigation scripts and screen sequence capture
  • Provides access to all 3270 applications of a VTAM subsystem (CICS, TSO, IMS/DC, CA Roscoe, ADS/O, Natural, etc.)
  • Support for standard security systems (RACF, ACF2, etc.)
  • Use of standard SQL commands to provide transparent integration of 3270 screen data with information from other data sources (such as CA-IDMS, IMS, DL/1, DB2, VSAM, ADABAS, CA-Datacom)
